Troubleshooting

Use this section when account creation, login, email verification, password reset, or PDF download does not work as expected. Each issue has a troubleshooting reference number that may be included when contacting Board staff.

TS-01: Account Not Found

This usually means that one or more values entered do not match the information in the Board's licensing record.

  • Make sure you are using the portal for the correct Board.
  • Enter the complete license or registration number, including any letters.
  • Check the license or registration number for extra spaces, missing letters, or incorrect numbers.
  • Use the last four digits of the SSN or ITIN associated with the Board record.
  • Do not enter the last four digits of a phone number, license number, or employer identification number.
  • Check that the browser did not autofill the wrong field.
  • Autofill may place an email address, saved name, password, or saved number into the wrong box.
  • Clear each field and type the information manually if the browser filled it automatically.
  • If the information still does not match, contact Board staff so the licensing record can be reviewed.

TS-02: Confirmation Email or Verification Code Not Received

  • Allow several minutes for the message to arrive before requesting another code.
  • Check the spam, junk, promotions, clutter, or quarantine folder.
  • Search the entire mailbox, not only the inbox.
  • Confirm that the masked email address shown on the portal is an email account you can access.
  • Check that the email address entered during account creation was typed correctly.
  • Email programs may group verification messages into one conversation. Open the entire email conversation and compare the message timestamps.
  • Avoid repeatedly selecting the button to send another code. Repeated requests may activate a temporary security limit.
  • If the email address on the licensing record is no longer available, contact Board staff for assistance.

TS-03: Verification Code Does Not Work

  • Enter only the code from the most recently timestamped email. Make sure the email program is not grouping it with older emails.
  • Requesting a new code makes previously issued codes invalid.
  • Do not use a code from an older email, even if that email appears at the top of the conversation.
  • Verification codes expire 10 minutes after they are issued.
  • Enter the code exactly as shown, without adding spaces before or after it.
  • If the code was copied and pasted, clear the field and type the code manually to make sure no hidden spaces were included.
  • If the code has expired, request one new code and wait for that email before attempting to sign in again.
  • Several failed code attempts may temporarily lock the login. See TS-04 before continuing to retry.

TS-04: Too Many Attempts or Temporarily Blocked

The portal includes security limits for repeated account searches, verification code requests, password attempts, and failed sign-in attempts.

  • Stop attempting to sign in when a temporary block or too-many-attempts message appears.
  • Close any additional portal tabs or browser windows before trying again.
  • Wait a full 60 minutes before making another login attempt.
  • After waiting, return to the login page and begin a new login attempt.
  • Request only one new verification code.
  • Wait for the new email and use only the code from that most recently timestamped message.
  • Continuing to request codes or repeatedly submitting information will not bypass the security restriction.

TS-05: Password Problems

  • Use the password reset option if the password has been forgotten.
  • Create a new password that meets all password rules shown on the page.
  • Check whether Caps Lock is turned on.
  • A browser or password manager may automatically enter an older saved password. Clear the password field and type the current password manually.
  • Copying and pasting a password can add an extra space. Type the password manually if login continues to fail.
  • After resetting the password, use only the newly created password.
  • Several failed password attempts may temporarily lock the login. See TS-04 before continuing to retry.

TS-06: PDF License Does Not Download or Open

  • Use the Download License Again button if it appears.
  • Check the browser's download list or Downloads folder.
  • Check for popup blocker messages or download warnings in the browser.
  • Allow the portal to download files when prompted by the browser.
  • The PDF may have downloaded even if it did not automatically open. Look for the file before selecting the download button again.
  • On mobile devices, check the Files app or the browser's downloads area.
  • If the browser opens a blank page, return to the license page and use the download button again.
  • If the PDF still does not open, try downloading it with another standard browser on a desktop or laptop computer.
